VASSILIKI BEACH
THE MECCA OF WINDSURF!
Vassiliki was once just a fishing village, located in a deep bay, surrounded by mountains, from which you can see the islands of Ithaca and Kefalonia. Although the town has never lost its fishermen-village-charm, the long beach next to the town has turned in the years into a true paradise for windsurfing and sailing lovers. In fact, in summer the wind conditions are ideal: in the morning a gentle breeze blows from the sea, perfect for those who want to learn; in the afternoon a strong wind rises and the bay is filled with windsurfers and their colorful sails!
Great windsurf champions and amateurs are surfing here, it is a real show to see them freestyle and race around!
OUR SUGGESTIONS
Along the beach there are many windsurfing and sailing schools, where SUP and kayaks are also rented. For sports enthusiasts it is a paradise, but if you just want to enjoy the sea while watching others whiz by, most of the surf centers are linked to a hotel and have a shaded bar, sun beds, umbrellas, and swimming pools. If it’s a hot day, you’ll always find a windy afternoon here to cool off.
WHAT TO DO
Have an aperitif on the beach at The Bar or at the many nearby clubs, listening to lounge music and enjoying the calm of the sunset.
Go for lunch or dinner in one of the many restaurants on the right hand side of the beach: you can enjoy a gyros, traditional cuisine or fish with a gorgeous view over the bay.
Take a walk along the sea promenade until the village of Vassiliki, there you will find plenty of shops, restaurants, tavern, bar, pubs and clubs!
